Keep my big mouth shut ??????
Ok, I have a friend who is getting married later this year. Herdress is very revealing in the back but the problem is she has tatoos all ove the place. She asked my opinon and I dont know what ti say. She is striving for an elegant look but I think the dress will take away from what she is striving for. Would you say anything to her. She looks amazing in the front but the back is awful :(

I have tattoos on my back and I don't mind if they show...maybe she realizes this but is just proud of them? Thats how I feel about it. JMO.

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
i would suggest she use tattoo cover up - or if she is a really good friend just flat out tell her ti looks bad - she will appreciate your honesty

Are you close enough with her that you feel comfortable saying something? I think she you should. If she gets angry, you were only give your opinion! Good luck!

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
The tatoos are not small at all. I am talking a big old panther and starburst sun. .. on each blade. She said that she has super critical family members. I just dont want her to get hurt by any comments she may over hear.

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
you might want to mention toh er that her tatoos are really visible in the dress...in case she hasn't seen it from that angle and might want to cover them. if she wants them to show, then she can tell you she knows and she's comfortale with it. i'd say something offhand - not about covering them, but just that they are visible!

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
I have pretty tattoo on my shoulder I need to hide. How should I cover it? I think it looks tacky with my elegant dress. Please be a dear friend and tell her.

Akanini, go to www.covermark.com, they have a tattoo cover kit. One of my BM's has this huge tattoo of a bat (yes the one that flies) its hideous but she covered it with that.

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
Rather than just coming out and saying it, why don't you ask her in a polite way? Say something like "Were you considering covering up your tattoos for the wedding because I heard about this stuff that's supposed to work pretty well..."
I think you should definitely say something.

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
I am not embarassed at all by my tattoos, maybe she isn't either. IMO, be polite and be like, "So what ae you going to do about the tattoo, are you leaving out or will you cover it?"

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
Tell her how much you love the front, for sure. Then, ask her if she realizes the tattoos are shown so prominently in the back. Tell her it isn't bad looking, but it's not quite giving the elegant appearance she wants. Tell her this is just your opinion, and please don't be offended or anything. Then ask her if she is okay with them showing so much. If she is, then you should be, too. Her wedding, her choice.

Give her your honest opinion of how the dress looks with the tatoos.

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
If she was my friend of course I would be honest with her, but in a very constructive way... or you could casually ask her, "oh, have you thought about your tattoos? hiding or showing them?"

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
In my opinon she really isnt thinking about the tatoos at all. I personally am not bothered by her showing them ( I have piercings but chose to remove them)but her family is highly critical and Fh family is highly religous. She figures the veil will cover but I just feel like someones biug mouth will open nor does she truely see the impact as everyone of the BM saids the dress is amazing on but then you see their face when she turns around :(

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
I have a tattoo on my arm. My dress cover it.
Now if it didnt I still wouldnt want to remove all of my tattoo.. probably just the black areas..(careful coverup) but if a friend told me "Ronie.. it ruins the elegance of your look" I'd rethink it. Im very proud of my tattoo.. but it is my wedding day. Sometimes we get so caught up on it being OUR wedding and OUR day.. we forget those photos are forever. If his family was the type to get upset about it (they arent) then even more reason to tell her "Do you really want them talking behind your back?" Less stress the better.
You can always suggest she'll have honeymoon photos with the tats.. I will!!!

Re: Keep my big mouth shut ??????
i would just ask her if she plans on covering the tattoos. i dont have any that can be seen with clothes on but my sister is full of them. i had a heard time finding dresses because everone wanted me to make sure they were covered. i just gave up and now im going to have them airbrushed out of the pics. thats an option for your friend if she hates the way it looks after the fact
