help!! wanna get married this summer

I am new here, read very interesting posts so far and decided you guys the best sources to go to for my problem.
FH and I, are looking to get married this summer, I hate the winter time and I always wanted a summer wedding, the problem is we are doing everything last minute and alot of our halls are all booked up. FH has a huge family, all from cali, who want to attend so weekends are our best option so people can attend. we are expecting around 250-300 guests. We are desperate to find a location for this summer..can anyone help. I know that once that is done, all else will fall into place.

Hi and welcome!!!
Why don't you go to some halls and ask what dates they have still open in the entire summer on the weekend. If you are flexible with the date, I'm sure some of them have something left!!! Ask them to go through their book page by page.

I have recently started looking at places to plan for a wedding this summer/fall and have found that places have a variety of random dates still open. The good news is some places call this short booking and will give you a better rate!

It will be easier if you are flexible on what day of the week (Fri, Sat or Sun) you want your wedding to be.

There are a number of places that can accomodate a 250-300 person wedding.

I loved John, he did such a wonderful job!!! My flowers were beautiful, and they lasted almost 2 weeks after the wedding. He went above and beyond my expectations. He was flexible and even made changes to my order just a few days before the wedding. I loved him so much, I brought one of my very good friends with me to me sample meeting so she could see how wonderful he was for himself. Of course she booked him for her July 06 wedding :0)!!!

Amazing - simply amazing! Ever arrangement was beautiful and my CPs lasted for a week - no small feat considering they had hydrange. My BO-k was breathtaking and more than anything I love the great relationship I had with John at Flower Michele...like a close friend I knew everything was in good hands and I was not disappointed. Thank you for making my wedding so wonderful!!! I highly recommend!!!

Everything was beautiful. The only reason my review was not a 10 was that the centerpieces were more pink than burgandy, as I had asked. But the church flowers were gorgeous, the bouquets were gorgeous. Michelle was so great to work with.

John is amazing. We didn't have a really big budget but he was able to create the archway of our dreams. Don't know how he did it ... but it was truly amazing. Also, my girls bo-ks were so beautiful. Everyone loved them. Thanks John!

John is an amazing florist. From the minute I walked into his shop with my silver tiered trays and asked him to create something, I knew he was my florist. He was enthusiastic about my centerpiece vision and created an amazing Victorian arrangement that perfectly suited my reception room and my wedding style. My bouquet was perfect and I have received many compliments on all of my flowers. I would use Flower Michele again in a heartbeat

Flower Michele- A+++++ I have nothing but praise to say about John. He spent so much time with me allowing us to get my vision of my flowers into a reality. He was a pleasure to work with and he made my reception, ceremony, Bo-K's, etc look insanely beautiful. I can't wait for you girls to see the proofs of the tables, and Bo-ks. John is wonderful! He was great to work with all along! I made a lot of changes over the year between when I booked him and my wedding and he was always happy to work with me! The flowers were so amazing - better than I could have imagined! They lasted for over a week - centerpieces and bouquets! Everyone told me sunflowers were weak flowers and would wilt - John disagreed and he was right! They lasted perfectly! I highly recommend Flower Michele!

I wish there was something higher than a 10 for Flower Michele!!!! Our flowers were the prettiest and most vibrant flowers I have ever seen. All of my guests kept coming up to me complimenting my flowers, and the Bridesmaids as well. John and his staff were AWESOME to work with. I can't say any more than what's been said here before - John is so incredibly talented, wonderful - simply the best in the business! I was blown away from my initial meeting with him - he took the time to listen to my ideas and we just clicked - I had a vision from the start and he made it happen ! Thanks to the ladies on this board, I found him -I was sold from the moment I met him, I just knew! I burst into tears when I saw my and my BM bouquets- amazing, gorgeous! The church flowers were beautiful, the centerpieces insane! Roses everywhere! At the last miniute I deleted a table and John offered to give me my money back but I told him to put an arrangement on the placecard tables and it was simply gorgeous - he added rose petals on the placecard table and more roses on the church pews. Whatever I wanted he did and more so! When I wanted to change the sample centerpiece around, he doubled the amt of roses - no extra charge! He came at the end of the night to see how everything went and everyone was rushing toward him to ask for his card! Flowers are the most abstract part of the wedding since you don't really know how it will come out the day of -I can't thank him and his staff enough! He deserves every piece of success his has!

I can't explain how wonderful John and his staff were. We hired them 2 weeks before the wedding b/c we were having trouble with our original florist, and so we gave him an idea of what we wanted and left it to him. We saw no samples or anything. People could not stop talking about the uniqueness or the beauty of our flowers. They helped to make it magical. And, all of the flowers lasted so long, days later I still have some to put in my hair and some on my table. I could not recommend him enough. If you want someone who puts his heart into your wedding, Flower Michele is the florist for you.

When there is love for something you do it shows and that is for sure when it comes to Flower Michele, I absolutely loved my flowers and how someone like me with my crazy ideas was treated there. John made me feel that I was in good hands, he did something he hadnt tried before for me and it came out just as I had imagined it! He was easy to talk to and accomodating in everway, even though it was along drive for me I love his work and will travel the distance next time I want something really special. I totally recommend this vendor and trust me I did my research.

After seeing some bouquets that were delivered to my office, I tracked down the florist to do my wedding flowers. It was worth the effort. John did an amazing job on everything from the boutinierres to the centerpeices. He's a great guy to work with - he even showed up himself the day of my wedding to deliver the flowers. The word I heard all night to describe my flowers is "Stunning" - and they were.

I could not have been happier with my choice. John was wonderful to work with and really outdid himself with the flowers. They were better that I could've expected. My bouquets were so perfect and so different - they were exactly what I wanted. My centerpieces were so elegant and the cake was the most beautiful I've ever seen. John was full of great suggestions and it all came together perfectly. I highly recommend him.

FLOWER MICHELLE: A++++ The + signs would go on forever. I LOVE JOHN. I changed my color scheme two times. I was a complete BRIDEZILLA. I went from reds with pinks to reds with maroons just because the FG dresses came in and they were BURGUNDY instead of CRANBERRY. Never once did he make me feel like the mental patient that I am! I'm as neurotic as they come. ANAL, ANAL, ANAL!! My centerpieces were originally supposed to be black magic roses, with some sort of a light greenish African Berry. About 3 days before the wedding, John calls me to tell me that the berries are in, but they¡¦re not green. Since it had been about a month since I saw the sample, it was later in the season and they were now pink with hints of green. HE KNEW I would lose it if they weren¡¦t green, because I had gone on and on about how I¡¦d worked in all these green accents, etc., etc. Then he tells me that he thinks he can put something else in as an accent. Seeded Eucalyptus. I wanted digital pics e-mailed to me ASAP. A TRUE ANGEL!! He WENT HOME! Because the batteries in his digicam were dead, took pictures of both the berries and the seeds so that I could make a decision. (Went with the seeds) 1 week before I came in with all these pictures of all these other things that I wanted done (candles centerpiece on the head table in addition to the centerpiece) HE DID EVERYTHING THE WAY I ENVISIONED IT AND THEN SOME. I could go on forever about what an amazing guy he is. An absolute pleasure to work with. My bouquet was awesome. All the personal flowers were beautiful. The church and the reception amazing!! He was only the second florist I looked at and I never second guessed my choice. He is a CREATIVE FLORAL GENIUS!!

We received so many compliments on the flowers, they were absolutely gorgeous and lasted the whole night and them some. John was such a pleasure to work with and really made the whole experience a delight and their prices are very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone with absolute confidence.

Flower Michele Florist is a house vendor for John Anthony's on the Water (where we had our reception), and John was absolutely great to work with!!! He made us feel so special and never once looked down at us due to our tight budget. He was completely accomodating to our pocket! Although we would give a "10" rating on service, we'd have to only give "9" on the actual flowers...they were absolutely gorgeous, but there were some "changes" made...I asked for heather in my roses and wound up with something similar...still beautiful, but not what I wanted...but it's not like it ruined my day...didn't have my heart set on the heather or anything...but like I said, BEAUTIFUL flowers (white and cream roses) that lasted ALL day...a VERY long day with no wilting or brown edges!

You should check out Villa Lombardi's they can definitely accomodate 250-300 and more people.

I did it. I booked in April and had my wedding in July. Just pick the halls you like and ask them what days they have left and pick from that. Good Luck. Just get moving on the dresses! and invites once you have the hall.

Hey there still many dates available for weekdays, but since you want a weekend in the summer, alot of places are booked up, you need to start ASAP in contacting places.


I dont know if its still available but It was a few days ago so it doesnt hurt to call Huntington Town House at 631-427-8485..they had saturday June 10th available...Hurry, maybe you can still get it and they can accomadate your large wedding party..

Just call around! There has to be some date open if you're not picky about the date..maybe there's a sunday daytime or something, you know? Have them go through the book..

I was also going to suggest NRC. I think they hold up to 350 people, and they're awesome

I looked into villa lombardi's and NRC but they did not have saturday or sundays in the months I wanted. I think a lot of Long Islanders want to get married in the summer, b/c its absolutely radiant here that time of year, thats why its all booked up!! AHHHH

Did you try Vanderbilt Mansion? they can only book up up to one year before. So they may have more availability.
Also, there may be some openings still for June 18(father's day) and July 4 weekend.
I know that as of 2 months ago, Lands end still had father's day.
Also try Crescent because it is good for big weddings... maybe woodlands and I know Harrison House had tons of openings two months agon.

I don't know how flexible you are about location but I'm having my reception at Villa Barone in the Bronx. They are wonderful and their customer service has been great from the very first day, plus they've done so remodeling. I don't know if they have anything for the summer, but you can check them out. Tony and Max are AWESOME!!!

You can try the watermill too. Their downstairs room can hold that many people i think. They might have a Friday or Sunday left!

ETA: Try East Wind too. I know some of their rooms can accomodate a large party and since they have a couple there is a better chance of an opening.

The Bourne Mansion can accomodate that many people, along with the Watermill, Carlyle on the Green, Crest Hollow, Woodlands, North Ritz, Hamlet in Commack, Larkfield Manor, Flowerfield, Westbury Manor as well as hotels. Those are just the ones I looked at/been to weddings at.

Lessings actually also holds weddings at the Vanderbilt Museum (tented affairs) in Centerport and I believe they have affairs at the Pavillion at Sunken Meadow.

I started planning my July 16th wedding at this exact time last year, so it can be done. Before you even look at the place, I would ask what dates they still have available. You may not get your dream date, but if you can be flexible, there is probably still plenty out there that is available. Also, if you can be flexible about the time (afternoon over evening) or consider Sunday, you might find more available.

As it turned out, the 9th or the 16th were the two dates we really wanted, so it did work out for us. We also had an afternoon wedding, which probably helped.

i don't know how far out east you want to come... but check out Giorgio's!! They can definitely accommodate the amount of people you are looking for and i think they're like $89 a person.

check out north hills country club in manhasset. .. i got engaged last december and pulled off a july 1 wedding.. they were so great... people were still talking about my wedding months later because the food was so so so good.. call michael bomengo..

Try Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park. It's on the water and a great place to have a summer wedding. Good luck.

My cousin got married at the Bourn Mansion and it was AMAZING! The place holds so many and they are part of Lessings they have timberpoint and a few other palces. Check it out!
