HELP PICKING DATE AT CLM .UPDATED NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Background of what we want
I always wanted an evening wedding and a veienese hour
Anthony always wanted to get married outside and in the daytime (which we arent going to do bc in the day you cant add the viennese hour)

Anyway, this afternoon I'm going to see Nick at CLM to sign the contract. THe date that has been held is Saturday, November 10. THe ceremony would be at 5pm but since it will be chilly and dark the ceremony will be indoors. We originally wanted Saturday bc 30% of the invited will be from upstate.

But then last night we started thinking about the other date that is available Friday October 19. If we have it Friday, we would send out STD's this October and then send out invites 3 monThs prior instead of the norm of 6-8 weeks.

On 10/19 the ceremony would begin at 6pm. The sun starts setting at 6:08 so we could possibly have our quick 25 minute ceremony at sunset. THis would thrill Anthony. Plus it would def be a little warmer to take pics beforehand

But my question is, isnt Friday inconveniencing many people. Anthony said whoever wants to be there will be there and our stds and invite will give them enough notice. I just dont know.

What would you do?

eta On Friday in October even if it was too cold to have outdoors, indoor has large windows to still see sunset. So thats Anthonys case
MY case is that I think people would be annoyed for a 6pm Friday ceremony and then reception

UPDATE
WEDDING IS FRIDAY OCTOBER 19 AT 600
IF NICE, OUTDOOR CEREMON
IF NOT IN THE CHAPEL EITHER WAY WE'LL HAVE VIEWS OF THE SUNSET

Re: GIRLS I NEED YOUR HELP PICKING DATE AT CLM

My wedding is on a Friday. We figured that the people who were important to us would take the day off and be at our wedding regardless of what day it is.

Re: GIRLS I NEED YOUR HELP PICKING DATE AT CLM

my wedding is on a friday as well....the people that you want and love the most will be at your ceremony and reception regardless of the date...dont worry about it being on a friday...its become more common and people just take a half day ot the whole day off...

I think you should go with the October 19th day since the weather will be warmer and the sun will go down later rather than in November. esp when its at CLM...you want to take advantage of the view.

Do what is best for the two of you. The people who love and care about you will be there regardless of the day of the week or time of day. If your wedding was on a wednesday afternoon, believe me the people that matter would make it possible to be there. Good Luck!!

You should do what you would be most happy with.
My wedding is a Sat night so I would probably go with the Sat night but if you really want to be outdoors then maybe you shouold do the Fri night.

Re: GIRLS I NEED YOUR HELP PICKING DATE AT CLM

I voted for the Friday, mainly bc my wedding is on a Friday. I hope that the people that love us and care about us will do what they have to to be there. My only concern for you is it seems like your big reason for picking fri is the outdoor ceremony. By Oct 19 it might be really cold. We went to a wedding this past Oct at CLM and it was just freezing out. I couldn't even go out to see the boat arrival. You might have to end up doing an indoor ceremony any way....
What ever you choose will be perfect for you!!

Re: GIRLS I NEED YOUR HELP PICKING DATE AT CLM

I am getting married on a Friday night in Oct, I agree that whoever wants to be there will come and I don't think people will decline b/c it is a Friday...

but -- it is hurricanse season in Oct so it may rain....and something we didn't think about was where to go for the honeymoon.

so...I would say if you think you'll HM in hawaii or tahiti - go for Oct...if you want a carib island go for November. (bc you'll be out of the hurricane season by then)

Re: GIRLS I NEED YOUR HELP PICKING DATE AT CLM

Im all about making things as convenient as possible for guests..... I paid more for my sat night wedding but its worth it because then people dont have to take off work to be there.

I guess you could call me a guest-advocate

ETA: And October weather could be iffy. If the only reason is to do the outdoor stuff it won't seem worth the change if its raining, extremely windy, etc. Friday = possible lovely outdoor wedding, Saturday = guests happier

I voted Friday b/c from your post it really sounded like this is what you wanted and the people from upstate will just have to take a half day for your weddings ...October sounds the best and the colors are GREAT!

Re: GIRLS I NEED YOUR HELP PICKING DATE AT CLM

I would do the Oct. date, but I would also throw out there that you can't always plan around weather - meaning, it could be warm, it could be cold, the horrid "r" thing that happens... so i would go with the date that most makes YOU guys happy.

And seriously, you never know about those OOT people....we picked our date on a Saturday for them too, and the ones that we thought would come, didnt.

So go with your gut!

I did the same thing and you'll be surprised that many guests that you did this for...end up not coming anyway. It's extremely surprising. I still had a huge wedding but the people who want to be there will be there...

Re: GIRLS I NEED YOUR HELP PICKING DATE AT CLM

My wedding is on Saturday! Half of my guests are from upstate because this is where my FH lives. I didnt want to inconvience anyone and make them take off more days then they might have too! Your FH is right that those that want to be there will be, but you cant predict traffic and im getting married in July so traffic on a Friday to Long Island is bad. Your getting married in October/Nov. traffic wont be as bad!

Why not ask some of your guests if they would mind before booking? This would give you an idea of how they feel.
