I promise... last HM poll... between 2 cruises

I know you're probably tired of answering my honeymoon polls. But thank you for opening this thread anyways

So we actually already booked a carnival cruise on monday. Its 7 days, leaves out of PR, and goes to Antigua, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Dominica, and Barbados. We booked a mini suite. So even after I booked it, i decided to look at princess. Don't ask what posessed me to do so since I am already booked with Carnival. But the Caribbean Princess cruise also leaves out of PR on the same day and goes to Antigua, St. Thomas, Tortola St. Lucia, and Barbados and is at sea one day. The reason I am thinking about switching is because Tortola allows for swimming with dolphins, while the other islands do not.

Then I have another question. The princess cruise can be 250 cheaper if we book a mini-suite but are not assigned our cabin until weeks before. Meaning our room may not be mid ship. Or we can pay an extra 100 and choose our room and guarantee a mid ship room. Does it really matter?

This is the room on Carnival

This is the room on Princess.

I appreciate all of your opinions!! Oh and we are still planning on going to barbados for 4 nights after the cruise

Weve cruised Princess three times, and i only have wonderful things to say about them, great service, their food is fabulous and most importantly its clean. On the formal nights they serve lobster and cavier which is nice if you like that type of thing :)

My parents were on Carnival and said its more of a "young ship" so i guess oyu have a younger crowd which is nice, but they didnt like the food at all. Carnival doesnt serve lobster nor cavier btw, i know its not a deciding factor, just thought id throw that in there.

P.S. - The same Princess ports you mentioned above, my DH and i just did three weeks ago out of San Juan for Christmas! It was awesome!

ETA: AGAIN lol sorry just wanted to let you know to go to the "Shipyard" in Barbados. Its a Private Beach and SO much fun. Pier jumping, jet skiing, and water trampolines! You wont regret it.

I voted to stick with Carnival because you said the room looks nicer. You're basically going to the same islands as Princess and you're already booked, so you might just want to stick with Carnival.

Unless you really want to swim with the dolphins, then you might want to switch. If that's the only difference and swimming with the dolphins isn't a big thing to you, then I would just stay with Carnival.

Thanks for the tips. What kind of room did you stay on when you went on the cruise for Christmas? I will definitely go to that beach in Barbados when we go back there for 4 days. That all sounds amazing!!!

We stayed in a balcony room in Dec. and we really liked it. The balcony room is very spacious and nice. You mentioned you wanted a mini-suite though, and thats even nicer b/c they have a bigger bathroom and its overall a bigger room too.

Good to know that the balcony room is "big enough" so i'm probably good with the mini-suite. What did you think of the decor. It looks a lil old fashioned to me. Which is why I meant the carnival room looks nicer.

Yea you will have MORE room than youll prob. use in the mini-suite.

Princess ships are really nice, the decor in the room perhaps is not that great, but its far from bad. I dont know Carnivals decor b/c i never used sailed with them, but i know that their ship left the same day as ours in the same port and we travelled together. We would meet random people from Carnival on tours and stuff, and they were complaining about the lack of nightly entertainment/activites and food.

lol oh yea boatyard, sorry!
They were pushy there? For us not at all, not even like a little bit, St.Lucia is where they bothered us. We loved this beach, it was our favorite out of all the stops.

Hmmm...its probably because you were on the New Years cruise, which is the most expensive week to cruise in general and b/c it was New Years. The people at the ports kept saying "we get no lobster on formal night" lol it was funny.

It might be a recent change one way or the other but FH and I went on a Carnival cruise in May of 2006 and they served Lobster AND Caviar. FH had Lobster at the regular dinner (not the fancy one you pay extra for). I'm a pickier eater and got sick of steak or chicken every night so one night I ordered the pasta & caviar dish and asked them to please hold the caviar...

So... they served lobster and caviar in the regular dining room and for the regular dinner on our cruise at least!

I also thought the food was GREAT. Some things at the lunch buffet were eh, but others were fantastic. I also loved the regular dinners and the fact that you could check the menu from the TV in your room.
