Italy

In Short.... Italy for 2 weeks.. flying into Rome and out of Milan.... Want to see Rome, Amalfi Coast, Naples, Pompeii, Tuscany (Florence), Venice and Milan.... Was trying to organize my itinerary for 2 to 3 nights in each location but realized my sister has a time share that maybe I can use and save some money.... To get her money's worth out of it I would have to stay in one place for at least 4 nights. Anyone know which location would be best to stay at for those nights and be able to travel and see the most??

Re: Italy

I would do Naples, we went to Italy for 2 weeks on our honeymoon and passed through Naples and we thought it was the most dirties city there. We flew into Venice then went to Florence then Rome and then to the Amalfi Coast. My favorite was Venice and my husband's favorite was Florence. We were in Venice for 3 nights and Florence 2. Rome was very busy like any other major city. I would definately stay 4 nights in Venice.

Re: Italy

It depends if you stay in Florence those nights you can also go see Siena (which is beautiful)...if yu do Amalfi you can go through the towns along the coast.

Re: Italy

I would reccommend spending 4 nights in either Rome, Florence, Milan or Venice. You can do Pompeii and Siena in 2 days. I would avoid Naples, nothing to see, very run down and dirty.

Re: Italy

I would recommend spending the most time in Florence or Rome. (I have not been to Venice or Milan so I cannot vouch for those - but I would recommend staying longer wherever you think has access to the most things you want to see and has easily available day trips) You can do Pompei as a day trip - if you go to the Amalfi coast, Pompei is on the way to Rome (which is how we did it - left Sorrento early stopped in Pompei and spent the day there, and got into Rome in the evening). I have never spent too much time in Rome - each time i've been there I've only spent a day or so in Rome. Although I wouldn't recommend it, you can actually hit all the major sights there in a day (we did it - St Peters, Vatican, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Coleseum and more in one day - was busy day though). But people who I have talked to who have spent a longer time in Rome say its their favorite city. Also has many day trip options.

From Florence, you can see the city and museums. Although it's a small city, there is so much to see. Be sure to check out the less touristy side of Florence over the river as well. And, of course wine country. I believe you can do a day trip to Siena from there.

Hope that helps!

I have a travel agent that I always use... She's from Liberty travel but based out of Florida. My sister has a time share but no availability. Oh well. 10 weeks till wedding and still haven't booked anything but the flights... I was able to use my onepass air miles for one ticket... The other one was a little under $1000 but I think they may have gone up since then. Have to book my hotels now and whole itinerary.
