Fh & I were so upset yesterday....

Fh's childhood friend & a couple we go to church with all the time were married yesterday. FH & I both took work off and in my job getting extra weekeneds means signing away your life. When the invitation came it said bla bla bla church with afternoon tea to follow. I though it was so weird but I know they were on a super tight budget. I asked the bride at church "So your not having a party after your wedding just an afternoon tea?" And she nodded. Well we are driving to the wedding and our other friends call and say "we won't be able to make the church but we'll see you tonight at the reception"... I was like What reception, we must have misunderstood our card. We asked when we got to the church and everybody was so shady and pretty much was forced to admit that we were invited to the church and not the actual wedding. I quickly tore up my $200 check and made one for $50. FH was highly offened, all our friends were invited so they had to know this would come back to us. Also they were dishonest with us, we feel lied too. They should have been honest and said "we are on a tight budget so we are having a very small wedding and only inviting some family and very close friends, but to include all we are having the church party" I just think it was so tacky. I want to cross them off our list, I don't care if im bitter and immature.

That is so rude!!!! I would have done the same thing but I don't think I would have given them a gift at all!!!!!!!! I personally think you shouldn't invite them either, You have every reason to be offended!!!!!

i think they are complete morons to think they can get away with a lie like that..so shady.. i wouldnt have given them $.. i prob wouldve left after the ceremony.. and not stayed for TEA.. u know..times r rough.. that tea bag could be used for some1 more important than u..lol give me a break. you were more than generous with writing them a check in the end.

nice ,....starting a life together on the wrong foot.. mazel tov... aholes lol

Im so glad everybody agrees with me. FH & I didn't say for tea and I pegged groom in the face with my handful of rose petals when they left the church to be fully honest.

That is so incredibly rude of them not to be honest with you and do that to you!! I wouldn't have even written out a check. I think that's horrible to do to someone. Sorry about this. I'd feel the same way

I don't blame you for ripping up the check. I would have done the same thing. If it was me, I wouldn't invite them to my wedding after that.

i totally agree that if they were honest and said they had to keep the guest list really small etc that would have been fine (maybe a little insulting but excusable) but this is ridiculous. i cant believe they were so inconsiderate

depending on how close you are, i'd reconsider inviting them to your wedding

Then see if you can get your bank to waive your stop payment for you!
