hair/makeup booking question

So I just reserved the date for my hair/makeup artist who I have heard amazing things about. I'm sending a non-refundable deposit to hold my date which it totally fine, but I will receive a contract via email after the check is received. Anything to be worried about???? I think I may request a written contract whenever I got for my trial. Have any of you girls experienced this????

Re: hair/makeup booking question

I'm going to leave the vendor nameless because I don't want to stir anything up on the board where this thread t will be edited out, and plus I knew people who had nothing but great things to say about this vendor, so I'm trying to be optimistic, but then again I want to just see if anyone has booked a vendor this way. :)

Re: hair/makeup booking question

I'm hoping it will be okay. The vendor is very quick when responding to my calls and emails. I was also sent a very lengthy form with a ton of questions about the day of the wedding. I will worry I guess when my contract doesn't get emailed within 48 hours after my deposit check has been received!!!!!!! maybe I'm just being a nervous wreck

Re: hair/makeup booking question

Can you book a trial first before you book the date? She will hold the date for you until you go for your trial then and you can book her on the spot.

Re: hair/makeup booking question

I havent dealt w/ this situation but I would be really cautious about signing that because she may try to have you book her in advance of the trial. I would never sign that contract - because she should hold the date open until you have the makeup trial.

What if you hate the way she does the trial and you decide not to book her? W/ that contract, she can tell you that she saved that date and is entitled to do your hair and makeup now. I'd just clarify that first.

Good luck!

Re: hair/makeup booking question

I think the way this is now being done is that you pay an actual non-refeundable deposit to reserve your date. I'm sure the vendor gets a million times from a bride of how they want them to be their artist, but then they wind up changing their mind and they hold the date for nothing where that artist could have had something else booked. So if I decide not to go with her I guess I will be down $75. I know i will be very happy with her work, so I think it will be fine. I'm going to call the vendor to get some reassurance about this contract thing. Thanks girlies :)
