JCREW BMs Dresses

Has anyone bought or tried on the BM dresses at JCrew?

I've set up an appointment end of this month with some of my girls to check them out.

I heard they are better quality than the typical BMs dresses.

They also sent me free fabric swatches and I'm liking them...

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

We're using them, I also own Sophia. The quality is great, and if you can get them on sale or with a code the price is great. Only issue is that they do not come in plus size, so depending on your bridal party this may be an issue.

Thanks, what dresses are your girls using? And what color? I"m thinking of the Spiced Wine.
What do you mean you can use a code to price the dresses? I know if any of my bms are teachers/student they get 15% off and two of them are teachers. I don't think any of them have issues with the sizing. Majority will fit well in petite. Thanks :)

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

My sister just got married in July and she used J Crew Bridesmaid Spiced Wine in the Chiffon dresses. She let us pick out what we liked among the three choices of tea-length: the twist tank, the sophia, and the strapless. Some of her girls were plus sized. It worked out well but the tops arent made to hold up the well endowed ladies. Myself, I had to get a bigger size and then get it altered so that it fit my top half fine. But the dresses looked lovely and the spiced wine color is really pretty. Can go for any season.

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

I used them and they are GREAT!! I didn't want an overly bridesmaid-y dress and these are perfect. Still formal and elegant, but the girls can 100% wear them again.

Plus if you get them on sale, they can be less than $100!!!

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

I just used JCrew BM Dresses - Sophia Silk Chiffon in Black and would totally recommend them!!

They looked great and the great part is their regular shipping is only 6-8 business days (they also sometimes offer free shipping coupons). The Sophia Silk Triotine in Navy was my second choice - it was stunning (but I'd have to change my color palette so we stuck with black). I would just recommend making sure that the color and style you choose will be in stock and is not a seasonal item.

The dresses on some girls were a little long but we found that the petite sizes were better (either way its a minor alteration) - I wanted a knee length.

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

They are wearing all different navy silk tricotine dresses. If you sign up at JCrew.com for their emails, you'll get coupon codes sent to you. Every now and they you will see 20% off over a certain amount spent (usually $150+) which is great for these dresses.

I am a J Crew *****. Ask me anything else you want about that website, lol.

You can get free shipping if you order from the red phone in the store, pick it up and you're directly connected to the J Crew catalogue and shipping is free. OR you can do what I do and politely ask every time if shipping can be waived, and every time they'll say, "Ok. Just once as a courtesy."

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

Thanks girls for you insights! So the coupons work even if they are in the bridal store? i really like the Spiced Wine color. And hopefully all the BMs will be happy with them since they come in petite and I heard it's quick shipping.

They also discounts for teachers and students. Can regular coupons/codes be stack-able with the student/teacher discount?

How was the staff when you went to the one in Rockefeller to try on the dresses? Was it an hour or more? I really hope my girls will like the dresses - then I can definitely quite worrying and cross another thing off my list...

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

This thread is a few days old but i'm going to J Crew with two of my BMs on December 3rd at Rockefeller Center to see if we like. I don't see many J Crew BM dresses on here but I think its definitely the style I'm looking for.

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

Replying late to this, but I recently wore a J.Crew bm dress and had my girls try them as well - we liked them, but I was worried because often times they were back-ordered and they can't guarantee that you'll get what you need in time. Everything did work out fine for my friend's wedding, where we wore the dresses. Here's a pic of us in spiced wine -

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

I wore a Jcrew BM dress for a friends wedding. It had pockets and it was a cotton material which was abit different. The style I wore was a little retrictive on the chest, rib area. We added a satin ribbon to dress it up a bit. Worked out well!

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

Hi Girls - here's an update...my bms loved the dresses and they are ordering them. The quality is great and sizing a lot better than some other brands.

They are getting Clementine and Gracen :)
In spiced wine...

Another item checked off my list...

Re: JCREW BMs Dresses

I went to the Rockefeller Center store yesterday without an appointment and the wedding specialist couldn't have been nicer, even though we didn't have an appointment. I went in there thinking I wanted the cotton cady dresses in a light blue, but after looking at all the materials, I feel inlove with the silk taffeta in the caspian blue (dark navy).
The dresses are not on display but whatever you want, they will bring out and try on if you want. The quality was really good and two of my BMs agreed that they would definitely wear it again since it was not super bridesmaidy.
Good luck!

My friend was in one for a wedding in August and really wasn't happy with them. She said they were all falling apart by the end of the night. She said it wasn't worth the money and that my Alfred Angelo dresses held up so much better. I talked to the bride from that wedding who was so upset about the dresses.

I have heard good things in the past, but her experience was terrible. Could have been the dress, but who knows.

I love jcrew bm dresses! I had to wear one in a wedding last summer and it was beautiful! The fabric was much nicer than other bridesmaids dresses I have worn and we got them on sale for under $100, which was awesome
