NWR: what to say when a kid asked you...

i've only seen this in tv or movies and i know someday i'll be asked this question too...

my 5-year old niece came up to me and asked...

"how do you make babies?"

she looked soooo cute and sooo innocent! i thought kids are supposed to ask WHERE babies come from (safe answer: from a stork or from God)... but i think this is the 1st time i've heard of a kid asking how to MAKE one. hahaha

i've tried the delaying tactic - eat your food first followed by brush your teeth to change to your sleeping attire up to no avail! only spongebob saved me from answering. LOL

if you were asked this question, what would YOU say???

Ugh, I am not looking forward to this conversation with FSD....OR the conversation about how to use a tampon...

I would definitely say ask your parents but in the future if it is my child, I don't want to beat around the bush because then they think you're hiding something and it makes them more eager to know ...BUT I have no idea what i'd say, lol...

My 4 1/2 year old FSD asked me this question. Besides was "Go ask your mommy. Bc she had you.Dawny doesnt have any babies yet. So when you find out the answer, you let me know"

As for my future kids i'm going to do what my parents did to me. Wait until they're in the 6th grade and had already figured it out on their own before even mentioning it.

my nephew kinda knew, but never asked.. and one day just said to me 'aunt meggie do you really pee babies out?'
well lets see, this was bout 3 or 4 years ago, so figure he was 10 or 11.. maybe even longer, so I was around 21, 22... I just told him how babies are made- sex and all...
we don't hide anything from him (i blame the video games j/k) he and i have always been pretty close, more like brother and sister rather then aunt and nephew. so it was easy for me to tell him...

it was cute though, FH's nephew asked FSIL why she doesn't have a 'peepee'.. and she told him (at age 4) the difference between girls and boys and where babys come from.. and he just said 'oh, ok' and walked away. meanwhile his older brother never asked or seems to care.

I think depending on how close you are to the child, and how informative the parents are, thats how you base your answer. talk to the parents about it.. just say 'listen what do i say if they ask' some parents will 'just tell them they appear in a crib' others will say 'tell them you don't know' and others will ask you to answer honestly.

its really a personal situation. it depends on your relationship with the child, the parents and how your personality is.
