For those doing weight watchers
I have been doing weight watchers now for almost 3 weeks and I am logging everything I eat. I also burn 200-300 calories a day (I have a 19 month old so I can only squeeze that in for now) I drink a ton of water like a camel (2-3L a day). I have only lost 1 pound and it is very depressing. I need some tips. I also work the night shift from 7:30pm to 7:30am so if I have some thing at 1am does that count for the next day? Also, what was everyone's weight loss on the first couple weeks. I feel like i'm doing something wrong

Re: For those doing weight watchers
As far as working thenight shift, I would count a day's worth of food, the food you eat from the time you wake up until you go to sleep.
When I first started WW, I lost an average of 2lbs per week. I counted all my points and worked out.
Are you following the "Healthy Guidelines"? Are you eating lots of fruits and veggies?
Maybe you can also try increasing your workouts.
If you still arent losing weight after another week or two, I would see your doctor. Maybe you have a problem with your thyroid that is limiting your weight loss.
Hope it works out for you!

Re: For those doing weight watchers
I lost on average 2 lbs a week and i hit a plateau and am still there. My doc said to add more exercise. Also check with a doc b/c some body types actually need more food to lose weight. It sounds strange but I've heard it from more than one person.

Re: For those doing weight watchers
Questions to ask yourself:
Am I eating ALL of my daily points? (you should be) Am I getting in my good health guidelines? (water, milk, oil, etc.) Am I using my activity points? Am I using my 35 WPA's? Am I weighing and measuring my portions? Am I tracking EVERYTHING I eat? Am I estimating my points correctly? (both eaten and burned)

I haven't done ww in a while, but i remember when i was doing it, i didn't lose if i was eating a lot of carby stuff or fast food or junk food. Even when i was within my points limit. Also, getting a food scale and measuring everything to the tee helps a lot. Good Luck and don't give up.

Re: For those doing weight watchers
I did WW with a friend a couple of years ago and she hada smiliar issue. However, she switched from the points based plan to Core plan. And she lost weight that way. We counted everything, went to meetings and used the online tools. We walked an hour a day, ate breakfast within an hour of waking up, had healthy snacks in bt. meals and got my healthy checks in. Perhaps increase your water, decrease your sodium (a lot of the frozen foods have high sodium level). Eat a lot of fiber too. Its not uncommon for this to happen with some people. Your body adjusts to the change and everyone's body is different.
Good Luck!

Re: For those doing weight watchers
When I lose weight, I only do it like once a month. I'll stay the same for 3 weeks and then all of a sudden 5 pounds would drop off in one week. So don't get discouraged. It just takes your body a little time to get used to the new routine. Plus if it's around aunt Flo's visit, that'll make you a few pounds heavier, which will mask your weight loss.
Keep it up!

Re: For those doing weight watchers
Even if you are eating sugar free fat free items, it's better if you are eating fruits and vegetables for the same amount of points because you are getting the nutrition. The point system is a good guideline but it's not good to eat processed food (including weight watchers meals). Also, watch your portions. You may pour a bowl of cereal but if you measure it, it could actually be two portions. Measure out your food... especially your dressing.
There are some "fake" healthy foods out there like smoothies (tons of sugar and calories), yogurt (watch the amount of sugar and calories! Do not get yogurt with more than 110 calories), and those protein/meal/granola bars (tons of sugar and have almost 300 calories!!).
Women's Health magazine has a great list of 125 of the best healthy food (best on health and taste). It's really helpful. You can check it outline.
Honestly, exercise will help jump start your weight loss. Even if you don't like the gym, try other activities like rollerblading, a kickboxing class, hiking, biking, etc.
Eliminating white carbs will help A LOT. If you must eat breads and pastas, make sure the FIRST INGREDIENT says whole wheat or whole grain and not enriched.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Re: For those doing weight watchers
I think I lost 7 pounds but I am not sure. When I weigh in at work i am heavier according to the ww scale they use ( we're all doing it lol) I am 2 pounds lighter according to my scale at home and I just purchased a ww scale and got it yesterday and it said i lost 7 pounds. I am not sure if i should jump for joy yet. I hope the scale at work says the same thing or else i am going to be devasted

Stop weighing yourself at home. It'll drive you nuts. Just go buy whatever their scale says. Besides it's not the number of pounds lost you should be looking at. It's the trend of your weight going down. As long as you weigh in at the same time each week, in the same place (i.e. WW at Work), you'll see a true trend.
Remember, every scale is different. So chances are you're not going to see the same thing at home as you do at work. Besides, at home, do you weigh in the morning, before you've eaten anything? Then of course you'll weigh less than when your meeting is after you've eaten.

Re: For those doing weight watchers
I was on weight watchers for over a year and lost about 13 lbs but then gained it back plus more. I was very discouraged everyone I knew lost like 5 lbs in the 1st week. I lost .1lb (POINT 1?)
I decided it obviously wasn't working even though i followed it by the book and trcked everything worked out like crazy! Then something miraculous happened!
I read about the south beach diet. Fantastic! no counting calories really no measuring. just a complete lifestyle change without all the extra crap like scales, points and all that. In the first 2 weeks I lost 10 lbs. and all together in a little over 1 month I lost 20lbs. I have just been maintaining my weight since december and really only fluctuate 2 lbs up and down here and there. I can't tell you how much I recommend this diet. A lot of people say its not good because they think it is a no carb diet like atkins. but it isn't. On South Beachthe only time carbs are not allowed is in the first 2 weeks. Its is to get the sugar out of your system and reduce cravings. (which really works) After the first 2 weeks you slowly add in healthy carbs. That's where it really teaches you a lifestyle change. unlike weight watchers in my opinion. Look into South Beach Diet. It's the most success I have ever had on a diet!
Good Luck!

ITA w/ Laura. Stick to one scale. I sometimes weigh in on different scales and it drives me crazy. One day before a WW meeting i weighed myself at home (right before i went)...i was 126. then at WW I was 122. Its a pretty big diff. when every lb. counts. stick w/ what WW tells u.

Re: For those doing weight watchers
You might be the type of person who loses inches. I did weight watchers last summer and only lost 15 lbs but dropped two sizes. When I got engaged this March I picked up WW again and do it online. I noticed that they now measure your inches.
Also, only use one scale, you will drive yourself nuts using so many scales and weighing yourself do much. Just a tip that I do to make myself feel better, I weigh myself same time every week right after I wake up and go to the bathroom, it helps and it's your true weight.
Aldo take up a step class or do step at home, it is a great session.
Good luck and don't give up!

Re: For those doing weight watchers
I actually just re-started WW about 2 weeks ago and I have lost 3 pounds to date. I'm looking to lose a total of 32 pounds by the time I order my dress (I still have plenty of time thank god!).
When I did WW back in the day I managed to lose a total of 35 pounds. I gained some back the years after but now since engaged I'm determined to reach my initial goal which I was never able to reach. Nothing like a wedding to motivate you =)
Few tips:
1) I agree with a previous post: use only 1 scale. And try not to weight yourself every day.
2) You have to exercise! I don't know if you are an exercise nut or a couch potato but you need to just make yourself do it! Also, when you do exercise and gain AP for what you did, I suggest using them as part of you points for the day - you earned the, use'um. Your body is gonna need more energy now that you are exercising more.
3) Write every single thing you eat down and don't lie to yourself. Once I found out those Wheat Thins aren't all that great in bulk, I knew to cut them out completely (I seriously will finish an entire box in a sitting and that's like 25 points!)
4) Makes sure you are at least eating your recommended points. If you eat less you are not going to lose the weigh as quickly and if you do you might gain it back just as fast as you lost it. You need to keep your body fueled to keep your metabolism up. Also, try and make use of your weekly points. I honestly use almost all of mine every week and I am still losing weight.
Good luck!
